About the Museum

The story behind Helsinki's unique Slot Machine Museum

Our Story

The Helsinki Slot Machine Museum was established in 2010 to preserve and showcase the rich history of gambling machines with a special focus on Finland's unique contribution to this entertainment form.

What began as a private collection of vintage Pajatso machines has grown into Northern Europe's most comprehensive slot machine museum. The museum now houses over 500 machines dating from the 1890s to the present day.

In 2018, the museum expanded to its current location in central Helsinki, allowing us to create more immersive exhibitions and interactive experiences for visitors of all ages.

From the Curator

"Slot machines represent a fascinating intersection of art, engineering, psychology, and cultural history. Each machine tells a story about the era in which it was created—from the mechanical marvels of the early 20th century to the digital wonders of today."
